Energy Recovery facility
The new Energy Recovery Facility at Newhurst (Leicestershire, England) which is currently being developed, will use a 42MW turbine generator supplied by Doosan Škoda Power. The contract was signed in April last year, between the Pilsen-based manufacturer and its customer, Hitachi Zosen Inova. The facility will treat up to 350,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste every year, generating enough electricity to power up to 80,000 households. In terms of performance efficiency, it will be one of the most energy-efficient installations in the world.Delivery of the main components for the project is planned for November this year. After the completion of the mechanical assembly (piping and wiring), engineers will perform individual tests, and steam is expected to be brought into the unit for the first time in October 2022. The entire facility is expected to begin its operational phase in spring of 2023.
